DR. SHELLEY BERLINSKY (MD, LicAc, LicOHM, PGCert)
Thank you for visiting my website.
I am an acupuncturist who is fully trained in both conventional medicine and Traditional Chinese medicine.
I practice acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine since 1995.
I am a full member of The British Acupuncture Council (BAcC).
When I am not in my clinic, I lecture in The City College of Acupuncture in Old street, London (CCA) and am involved in acupuncture education as a member of the Accreditation Committee of the BAcC (BAAB).
I am experienced in treating musculoskeletal and mental conditions. I am passionate about pain relief and keeping my patients drug-free as much as possible. While treating spinal problems I ask the patient to lie on a special mattress called Re-spine. This innovative mattress helps relaxing the muscles around the spine and the spaces between the vertebrae (please see Re-spine). As far as I am aware, I am the first therapist in the UK to use Re-spine.
A special interest of mine is female health and infertility (including acupuncture alongside IVF cycle and acupuncture during pregnancy). I am an associate practitioner of The Women Natural Health Practice .
I also treat skin conditions with Chinese herbal medicine.
I offer acupuncture, acupressure, ear acupuncture, Chinese herbs, cupping and electro-acupuncture.
"I have no doubt the acupuncture contributed to letting me have my miracle baby. I am now on baby number two and have acupuncture sessions weekly."
"Acupuncture is an amazing experience. It feels as if everything falls back in place. "

Originating in China more than 2,000 years ago, acupuncture is one of the oldest and most commonly used medical procedures in the world.
The word 'acupuncture' describes a variety of procedures involving stimulation of anatomical points on the body by using a variety of techniques.
The acupuncturist exerts pressure or inserts ultra fine needles at chosen points to stimulate the body’s own healing response and restore its natural balance.
Modern research explores the scientific mechanisms which acupuncture elicit. Acupuncture triggers many physiological effects. For example, recent research shows that the insertion of an acupuncture needle into the skin disrupts the branching point of special nerves called C fibres. These C fibres transmit sensory information to the brain.
Today, acupuncture is considered an effective, natural and increasingly popular form of health care that is being used by people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds.
